Engel Europa International limited was founded in 1982 and registered in 1983 as a uk limited company.

The first Autofold duct line was manufactured in 1981 by the owner Barry Summerhayes. It seems to have been an innovative solution to the problem of efficiently folding flat sheets into ducts. At that time, automation in duct factories might not have been widely considered, making the Autofold duct line a unique and potentially labor-saving solution.

Machine no 1 shown here was sold to the first company in London.

As word (pre -internet pre- mobile phones)  got around more companies wanted this new machine and sales while slow at first increased year on year as they do to this day

The machines have been  copied numerous times but we remain the longest privately family owned manufacturer of square duct machines in the world.

Having a long-standing family ownership can often bring stability, a commitment to quality, and a deep understanding of the industry. These factors can contribute to our  success and differentiate us from our competitors who may not have the same level of experience or dedication.
